  2. Great update, I upgraded from the .7 via the Rom manager. The only issue I am having is that WiFi is retiring and I have a custom kernel and gps send very laggy. These were working in the previous . release.

  14. "I installed the original SOS thru ROM manager. When i try to update on ROM manager it says i have the latest version even tho i don't. Can i flash this update without anytjng happening?"

If you are running an older version of SOS, it won't be compatible via ROM Manager OTAs with the newer versions. I apologize for the inconvenience and since v1.9.0.5 Stable I have been consistent with the OTA version number. Just update though the "Download ROM" page.

"Great update, I upgraded from the .7 via the Rom manager. The only issue I am having is that WiFi is retiring and I have a custom kernel and gps send very laggy. These were working in the previous . release."

Quite strange, haven't messed with any of those files. Maybe try wiping your Cache and Dalvik Cache in recovery.

"I'm assuming we can install this right over our current installs right? Well I'm gonna do it regardless I don't care if something messes up hell I don't care if I brick this thing I hate technology

Yes, install with Cache/Dalvik Cache wipes only - hell, you probably don't even need to do that. As far as the update, the latest version is 4.54 (which is what the ROM is based off of) and there were no new radios in that release (it was a pretty minor update).

"My 3g keeps droping to 1x I never had this problem on other roms and other SOS roms after I switched to dolphin browser every things ok now ..weird"

Could be because the other ROMs don't report 1X correctly like SOS does. I don't know, that's really a radio issue and not a ROM issue. Keep me posted.

"i got the rom and I love it. but i cannot use 4g or wifi any ideas?"

Check the Q&A, here's the link: http://swaggedoutqa.blogspot.com/. This is a known issue that only occurs rarely and has a super easy fix.

"Just downloaded the new SOS, Love it however the add to home button does'nt respond when I hit it. So I just long press the screen itself and the add widgets screen pops up. This is sooo awesome."

The "Personalize" key has been modified to be controlled by LaunchKey. It's an app in your app drawer (it's a green hand to help you find it). Use that app to map the right key to a different app. I personally use the internet browser, but it's up to you :)

"Just got that new swag flu, rom is on fire, i love it man first rom toooo ever i mean ever make me go away and flash a new one that it is not from mikg...keep that swag comin ..peace"

Glad to hear a lot of people are enjoying catching Swag Flu ;) lol

"Im on htc evo. The rom won't let me choose location setting. If i choose no it will keep popping up and asking me again."

Ummm... I don't know what to say. If you choose yes, you may be able to disable that in the Settings menu after setup. Also, you shouldn't worry too much about your location being displayed, Carrier IQ has been removed from this ROM.

  15. The 3g dropping to 1x is fine now I seen some guys working on the tower by my house on my way to work I'm guessing that was the problem I love this Rom it did boot loop on me about three times so far but I think that's my kernel I'm running aggressive freedom to save battery life

    ReplyDelete
  16. I use the personalize key for WiFi teather app

    ReplyDelete
  17. Absolutely bangin ! The latest SOS rocks ! I dl'ed and didn't clean anything. Installed right on top of the previos SOS-on. Everything is working fine !!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @jobujoe44 Same for me. Instead go to download ROM, premium, SOS. You will see 1.9.0.8 available for download. Im doing it now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Anthony Compared to stock? Yes. Compared to last release? Not quite, added a few more files, but it is less than a 10MB increase.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hey is the date supposed to be missing from the top left? I just found out it's 2012

SOS comes with a kernel right? My phone has probably bootlooped at least 500 times since version one, always runs great so I've never complained but I'm not sure how many more times I can pull the battery before the back cover breaks or it does some sort of damage to the phone itself, so I'm trying to figure out what the culprit is

    ReplyDelete
  21. The date is indeed missing but luckily, it will make a return in the next release. For now, the lock screen can be used to check the date.

Bootloops are tricky. Check out swaggedoutqa.blogspot.com for some tips on that topic.

Let me know your results old friend!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was thinking about trying a different kernel since phones are like snowflakes, but I can never tell what's the latest and greatest on xda because with forums someone can reply to an outdated thread and they all have millions of pages

So just now I decided I'll try it anyway but THE ENTIRE INTERNET IS TURNED OFF GOTTA WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW, GUESS I'LL JUST PLAY BATMAN FOR NOW

    ReplyDelete
  23. FYI swag love your rom...but I use ADW for my launcher...DONT HATE ME. Just like how smooth it scrolls in the app drawer.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anyone else notice more battery drainage with the update? It's noticeably different for me. I don't get why.

    ReplyDelete
  25. http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Supersonic/Kernels is out of date right? I can't work in an unorganized environment like xda, I've got a vision in my brain on how to layout roms/kernals/radios in a custom website not a forum, I mean I could deal with a wiki if it were updated, oh screw it I don't get that many bootloops and from what I can see battery pulls aren't that bad hell blackberry owners have to do it at least once a day

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't need no-frills right? It won't just stay locked at 998, it'll still scale itself down without a cpu control app? If so I'm gonna see if maybe that's the problem and if I'm better off without it, I just bootlooped again browsing xda trying to decide on what extended battery to save up for and I was only opening a second tab.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well it just happened again so that wasn't it, but that was 8 AM now it's 1 AM so that's like almost a day or something, is that about the average for getting bootloops? If it's definitely not gonna break my phone before I get to upgrade then I don't mind that much, except when I have an alarm set to wake me up but that's very rare and I can just get a dollar store watch and use its alarm

  28. the new ICS launcher look alike is nice. Plz leave option for us folks who like the Stock Sense launcher to pick. I prefer the stock launcher over the ICS launcer anyday. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry for ignoring a lot of comments. But...

@styrofoam sword, the new Swag is still Sense. The screenshots that were posted is not of a look a like launcher ;) JSYK :)

  30. @jobujoe44 Try calibrating your battery using this: http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/08/how-to-calibrate-htc-evo-battery-and-possibly-double-your-battery-life.html

@steveyos Try using the stock Freedom kernel or Poonsense, you can get both from Kernel Manager (free in the Market). You should try using No Frills to underclock your CPU speed (try 768MHz). Let me know the results.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sam, the SOS 1.9.08, is there a way to swap the launcher back to the "normal" sense launcher?... The traditional left button pulling up the app drawer and mid button being the phone app and the right button being the shortcut to personalize settings.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Install theme with old launcher: http://swaggedoutthemes.blogspot.com/?m=1

I thought kernel manager was extremely outdated? What freedom comes with SOS? I don't know how to tell if it's the universal one or not, not sure if it'd say universal in the name in settings. I'll try the poonsense one and see what happens and 768 O LET DOO ITTT

Just to clarify SOS still runs like a boss. Anybody looking at these posts and second guessing this rom, GET THIS ROM RIGHT NOW.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Alright poonsense killed my wifi but universal works. Is august 11 the newest version and/or does it matter? 245/768/interactiveX/deadline right? Jan 23 5:20 AM if I don't bootloop for 24 hours it's a victory

    ReplyDelete
  34. 2 hours 22 minutes and I'm at 36% eek, well I'll be buying one of those external charger things anyway (35% now) for when I'm out in the woods all day and I always have access to a charger besides then so I'll take more charge time for less battery pulls

c-c-c-c-c-c-combo post! I need a bit more time but I'll be ready to attempt themeing relatively soon might as well throw that into this post since (34%) I can't edit past posts to make it one big post (33% woah)

    ReplyDelete
  35. OH I WAS GONNA damn brain I was gonna say my battery was easily lasting the day with super minimal use before switching kernals, (32%) but I think my battery cover is gonna break so again this'll work for now if it ends the bootlooping

wait for itttt................ wwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiittttttttttt fffffffoooooorrrrrrrrrr iiiiiiiitttttttttttt.................. 31% hahahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  36. Steve, you gotta let the kernel settle in. Lol.

    http://www.goodandevo.net/2010/08/how-to-calibrate-htc-evo-battery-and-possibly-double-your-battery-life.html

Check out this article on battery calibration. I live by it. I will be posting this to the Q&A soon.

Just send me an email when you're ready to theme bro!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, and that is the latest Freedom. You used universal, right?

    ReplyDelete
  38. first what's your email again? oh man I am so high

ok listen, before switching kernals (also what keyboard you use? 768 goes noticeably slower, but I'm using thumb keyboard and it always does this but still overall i notice it I, ) the battery would last q good amount of time all day but it died a lot faster when I switched BUT, idk are you saying the baterry will last like it used to in a few says? WITHOUT the battery link there, because I didbt need it yesterday oh fuck's I love weed and hash incredibowl m420, I'm the most swagged out SOS user

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hell I'm gonna try it anyway actually

    ReplyDelete
  40. 99% to 95% in two minutes aaaaaaaaaaaa, 94, I'll report in when it reaches 20% (93%)

    ReplyDelete
  41. 8h58m later I'm at 51% but I've also barely touched my phone however I don't like using it too much anyway so let's see what happens, no bootloops yet either

    ReplyDelete
  42. 10h50m 9%, see how I drained half so much faster I was streaming video, when I actually use the phone it drains like there's a hole in it haeheehehha

  43. Love the 1.9.0.8 update. Only having a few issues with it, I dunno if these can be remedied or not:
    1) Date no longer displays in the notification bar when I hold it down, like it used to. Only way to view the date now is on the home screen or lock screen bar. Is that a setting, or will it be coming back, etc..?
    2) Notification bar is translucent, which results in a questionable grey color in many apps. In the stock browser, it seems to duplicate part of the address/loading bar, to a weird effect. Can translucency be controlled? Maybe through SOS Tweaks?
    3) Volume rocker song skipping doesn't seem to work unless the screen is off. This would be fine if the screen stayed off, but when I skip tracks/adjust volume, the screen turns on, meaning I can only skip one song and then I have to turn the screen back off to do it again. Is that how it's supposed to work? Any way to keep the screen off when I use the volume rocker? Operates the same with stock music app and with Google music app.
Any help is greatly appreciated :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. To solve 1 and 2, get the preview update in the newest post, and for 3 there's a thing you can install to stop the screen from turning on but I forget, but I want it too, sam post that thing I'm talking about

    ReplyDelete
  45. by the way, SWAGSTER, I got the update and the freedom kernel and I haven't bootlooped once yet, now I just need a graphics card

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Saline What Steve said lol

    And for 3: http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/11/advanced-power-menu-and-other-goodies-for-your-rooted-htc-evo-4g.html
